I've also checked for Auto-archive settings and it is not activated (greyed out). I looked and do not see any rules that might be causing this.
Any Gmail filter only applies to incoming emails (so not ongoing unless manually applied), and Apple Rules don't have the necessary parameters. I have one user that, when emails are deleted from the Inbox are going directly to her Archive folder instead of Deleted Items. I want a mailbox created that shows only my Archived emails, similar to looking through emails in the trash (if they weren't deleted after 30 days by gmail).
Mac mail gmail going to archiver folder how to#
What I don't understand is how to view ONLY the emails that I have Archived without having to search through All Mail. You can now backup and archive from Gmail, Mac mail, Yahoo mail, Outlook mac, Office 365 for mac, Thunderbird and Postbox etc. I choose to archive (rather than delete) to have access to "deleted" emails for longer than 30 days (otherwise, I would just set mailbox behaviours to delete emails (vs archive) and have easy access in my Apple Mail Trash folder indefinitely until I manually permanently delete my emails from the trash). This tool allows you to do something truly incredible. If they're archived without labelling, you might find them in the All Mail folder in Mac Mail. When messages are not in the Inbox, they're in All Mail but they might also be labelled with one of your custom labels. And I understand how Gmail trash(deletes in 30 days) and archive (removes all labels and leaves the email in the All Mail folder) work. Gmail's Archive is an action - not a location. I understand the difference between Gmail labels (there will only ever be one email, but it can have can have multiple labels) and Apple Mail folders (one email can only exist in one mailbox). Can someone please tell me how to create an Archived mailbox / show only Archived emails in Apple Mail?
