Sometimes, my FPS will even spike for a considerable amount of time to the mid 50s in FLEET! I know. The FPS would drop to ~5-10FPS when near the GTN or Fleet PVP armor area, but now I am only experiencing dips in FPS from the mid 30s to the mid 20s at the least. Despite this seemingly marginal FPS increase, the dips are far less severe than before. In fleet, I am now getting ~30FPS constant as opposed to ~22-25 depending on the number of people in fleet. Furthermore, I have experienced an increase in FPS by installing more RAM.

The system is definitely using more RAM now that it has it available (this is according to Windows Performance Monitor while playing the game in windowed mode). However, I am under the impression that by increasing the RAM from 4GB to 8GB allows the game to cache more textures/game assets and thus increasing game performance. Therefore, this may be the reason that I am experiencing a performance boost. Increasing the RAM does increase the gfx allotted memory from 386MB to 512MB in OsX and, according to the Intel HD system tray information my maximum allotted under Windows is 1696MB. I know that the Intel HD 3000 is integrated to the Core i7 and uses system RAM. Secondly, many have also complained of poor FPS/unplayable FPS. After installing 8GB, the phenomenon is completely gone. It limited my laptop gameplay to crafting. With only 4GB installed I experienced this in PVP/FLEET and PVE. The result of increasing my RAM from 4GB to 8GB has GREATLY enhanced gameplay on several levels.įirstly, many people on the forums are complaining of a choppiness to the game in which the FPS would be in relatively playable range and constant (~25-35FPS), but the game would nevertheless experience strange stuttering. It was unanimous that increasing from 2GB to 4GB would enhance performance, but most said that the jump from 4GB to 8GB was a waste and would neither increase game performance or FPS.Īfter disregarding the naysayers and listening to the minority that insisted a jump from 4GB-8GB would indeed make a difference, I went ahead and installed 8GB. I lurked around countless forums trying to find an answer to a question that many people were asking: "If I increase my memory, will it enhance game performance/graphics?" This was usually questions regarding the jump from 4GB to 8GB. Initially, I ran the game with 4GB of RAM.

Regarding the performance issues that many people are having, I thought that I would share my experience with a laptop, particularly the early 2011 MacBook Pro 13" with Intel HD Integrated Graphics. I’ve read many forums regarding this issue and most of them covered the 15” and 17” MBP or the iMac while little attention was paid to the 13” MB/MBP. This is going to be a long one, but I want to be as thorough as possible. Repeat offenders may have their posting privileges suspended.MacBook Pro 13" Intel HD 3000 (Performance Update)
